not art related at all, but completely silly.
my turtle is so strange. i have to share her adventures with the world.
i've had holly for about 8 years. i was on a walk and found 'new turtle'. this is their first introduction. i think holly might be too much woman for him. she chased him around the house for about an hour until he hid in Andy's studio.

All RIGHT - let's get started!
So - I trekked over to the art supply store today and bought some little canvas boards. Let the late night boredom now bring new paintings, and a developing technique! Here's my first attempt for a little painting in this genre of 'a painting a day'. I know it's not going to be daily, but hopefully frequently.
I love the little Western Bluebirds of my home state, Oregon- so I started with one of those cute little buggers. I could probably work on this more-perhaps i will if there's no buying interest in it. The picture is blurry, I apologize for my camera's lameness - but it's cute in real life, i promise. Strange: painting something other than a portrait - but fun, and different. I'll do more of these and hopefully improve more and more. Starting at $100.

Second Try

So it's Saturday morning. I slept in. Not going to the gym - just too many logistics for today. Anyhoo - thought I'd try an existing illustration this morning. Did this a few months ago to practice doing 'people' instead of just 'animals'. People are overrated, but casserole with yucky peas is always worth drawing. This one is about 8x10 inches on paper - could have a custom message written in the text area - maybe a good addition to mom's kitchen? I dunno. I usually charge about $175 - $200 for custom illustrations, but since this one is just sitting, sadly, in my closet - let's start at $30.

We'll start with existing stuff that fills my closet
Some of this stuff is larger than the intended size for this blog - so prices will reflect. I promise I'll follow the rules from now on.
This is my (not accepted) piece to the Radical Nautical show at Gallery Lombardi. It's 16 x 20, oil on canvas board. I think it's cool beans. Starting bid $200
Below: Silly self portrait done for the Austin Figurative Gallery self portrait show. I enjoyed painting with the drippy washes, and tried to emulate some 'jennifer balkan'ness in the figure. Also 16 x 20 - starting at $200
